Tier Lists

Best Pals for Each Element (Early and Mid Game)

5 min readUpdated 2026-08-05

Nine elements, nine decisions, and about four minutes before you're back out capturing things — this is a fast reference, not a full tier list (for full rankings by role, see the Tier Lists page), so I'm not going to pad it out just to look thorough.

Neutral: Cattiva for speed-focused Gathering runs, Chikipi for a self-sustaining food loop.

Fire: Rooby for its higher combat stats once you track one down; Foxparks is the earlier, more common alternative with identical Kindling suitability.

Water and Ice: Penking is a rare dual-element pick that covers both Watering (level 2) and Cooling (level 2) in one slot — an efficient use of a single work slot if you've only got room for one.

Grass: Broncherry for dedicated Planting output (level 3) — Verdash spreads thinner across Planting, Handiwork, Gathering, and Lumbering instead.

Electric: Univolt once unlocked — a full Generating Electricity level above Sparkit.

Ground: Anubis is the clear pick where available; its Mining level outclasses most other Ground-type Pals.

Dark: Daedream is one of the earliest Dark-element Pals you'll run into, and a solid all-rounder until something better shows up. (Nitewing, despite its owl-and-night theme, is actually Neutral-elemental, not Dark — don't judge a Pal by its color palette.)

Dragon: Jetragon, without much competition — it's the fastest Dragon-type mount in the game by a wide margin (1700 vs. Eidrolon's 1400 Run Speed).
